Is that written by Pags? If it is, I don't trust anything he writes at all.

1 I thought it was really interesting, until I saw the source, Pags's scouting bunch. Maybe I'm not giving Pags a fair shake, but man, some of the stuff he's put out there is just bad.

Pags definitely has a, um, unique take on things. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that Maddog has lost his velocity but still has pinpoint control. And without a history of significant injury, maybe he could pitch until 50. Do I hear 400 wins?

"He's the best fielding pitcher in the game's long history."

How does one measure that? How much better is he than e.g. Mussina?

Or Bobby Shantz, who had the quickness of a point guard?

Jim Kaat might beg to differ on that ...

Re 6 , this is hilarious:

"MINNEAPOLIS, MN-When they announced the Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners yesterday, at least one player was not surprised.

"They give this damned thing to me every year," said Jim Kaat.

Kaat, who this year won for the 32nd time, says he's started to bury the awards in his backyard."
