Though he has yet to make a decision, ESPN reports that Nomar Garciaparra is leaning towards accepting a one-year deal to play for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Our Dodger voice at Baseball Toaster, Jon Weisman, doesn't think Nomar would be desirable option to play first base in L.A. next year.

Look at that mountain
Look at those trees
Look at that bum over there
Man, he's down on his knees

Looks like LaLa Land is calling Nomar back home, huh? Like Knuckles, I'm not sure how to take this. He's probably the most 'interesting' FA available right now with the potential to be one helluva utility man, but with some big question marks. I always thought he quit on the Red Sox. I'll never forget the shot of the entire Sox bench standing up on the dugout railing of a yet another thriller vs the Yanks, with Nomar sulking in the shadows, sitting alone on the bench.

If he decides on LA, no great loss. I just hope they take Damon, too.

Now let's go Jints!!!

When Nomar turned down a 4 yr/60 mil$ contract, for his Home team, for a team that had a good shot at the PS every year, a team where the fans adored him... I thought 'What an F'n Pig!'.

Yes, he wanted 'Jeter/ARod money'... contracts that were an aberation one year because Tom Hicks went crazy.

Well, he had been humbled. His body, always kept in great shape, failed him. After he signs this year, he will already have lost well over 10mil (compared to the Sox offer).

I am no longer angry at him (or at least to the degree I was), and am willing to see him in Pinstripes (however, if the Yanks sign Damon, I may switch to rooting for the Mets). At 7 mil +/- for a single year, I think he is a great gamble, considering how little ground we have made this off-season. I think, as a player, he plays hard and gives his all. As a person, I have reservations. However, I would like to have the Yanks get him.

Gammons reporting that Nomar has agreed to a one year, $6mm deal with the Dodgers. oh well...
