You Ain't the Boss o Me

You might find this shocking, but Joe Torre's big brother doesn't exactly think the world of Hank Steinbrenner.  Go figure that.

Maybe he'd like Michael Scott as a Boss instead.

I've come to appreciate Torre in the last year.

The more I see of him, the more I think he was never going to change his "book". Let us not forget that he constantly played Juan Pierre and the corpse of Andruw Jones over more-productive, youthful alternatives. It wasn't until those vets went on the DL and he was handcuffed that he started putting the best lineup on the field.

>> "Well, let me tell you, Hank Steinbrenner was fortunate he was born in the Steinbrenner family. His inheritance is a whole lot bigger now than it would have been if not for my brother>>

And back to the original point by Steinbrenner, Torre stepped into the right situation at the right time & owes just as much to the Yankees organization for his new-found godlike status as a manager.

Hank could have put it a little nicer, though...

BTW, Jim & Dwight with the stopwatch in last night's "Office" was gold!

2 Torre isn't the first nor will he be the last manager to play a "proven veteran" over an "untested rookie."

3 The very definition of "sense of entitlement." Hank has certainly said a lot of stupid, even foolish things but that byte from Frank Torre is baffling in its utter lack of graciousness.
