You know I have always felt it to be unfair to erase a players game stats because of a rain delay. C'mon Damon, Jeeter and ARod hit their doubles and Bobby got his triple and now they call do over!
I think it will be unfair of anyone to demand the Yankees play better when they were denied the opportunity to play in a reasonable hour, then shorted normal rest because of bad scheduling, mainly because a few people want to make the most money possible. Bad karma for bad teams, and to some extent that would have to include us, I guess.
1 I guess the theory is a player would then get extra ABs, as they would have played 162.22 games. If ARod hit 2 HRs and won the HR title by 1, it would be seen as unfair. I'm not happy about the rule, but I understand it.
I still remember in the late '60s, when the Yanks were terrible, they started a game with 2 singles and a walk to load the bases. VERY, VERY rare in those days. Then Joe Pepitone hit a Grand Slam (every rarer). And with a 4 run lead (EVEN RARER!!), we had a biblical rain.... and the stats were washed away. I was almost in tears.
