The Yanks need a bounce-back win this afternoon against one of Joe Posnanski's favorites, Brian Bannister. It is hotter n July hot in the Bronx today--hot, hazy, dumb hot. Andy Pettitte goes for the Yanks. The ball should be a-jumping, boy.
Keep cool, y'all and...
Let's go Yan-Kees!
Makes me wanna open a fire hydrant :)
it's hot up in boston too and i'm loving it
record, obaa, oops, era
day: 11-2, .229, .614, 3.03
night: 8-14, .263, .762, 4.76
(i am only on gamdeday, so don't know what really happened.)
there's not a lot of flexibility with the 25 man right now - i mean if shelley duncan is pinch running that tells you all you need to know.
Girardi obviously thinks the offense is doing great and we should rest some of our best producers, since everybody else is hitting.
but i think even the biggest giambi lovers realize you can't run him out at 1b everyday - especially after he got hit the other day.
But is it?
And no, I do not have heatstroke.
Hey, the O is coming back. We're winning this sucker. F what you heard.
Why the hell did Melky look at right fielder when he was running. Not good.
Now that would be something to tell the Grandkiddies.
Gotta luv the big lug!
now let's see what andy can do - already at 83 pitches
Send Cano to AAA for a week and bring up AGon.
72 yeah - i never thought he would again, but some of his main competition may be 3 other guys no one thought would be do anything
Absolutely inexcusable managing there. Freaking terrible. This team is scuffling enough, it doesn't its manager to make such blatantly boneheaded decisions...
Great, lets drop the series to the 2nd worst team in baseball right when we should be taking off, nothing sums up this season better than that.
Things don't look good. But the fat lady doesn't sing until October.
maybe Joe's experience catching Pettite came into play somehow......
134 Think JD dogging it and being thrown out at 2nd.
"Free agent outfielder Chris Singleton was released by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday after failing a team physical.
Singleton reported feeling light-headed and dizzy during his three days in camp with Pittsburgh. He was originally diagnosed with an inner ear infection before being sent back to Pittsburgh on Monday for additional medical testing.
The team, citing player confidentiality issues, declined to disclose what caused Singleton to fail the physical.
"Basically, we voided his contract based upon him flunking the physical," said Pirates GM Dave Littlefield. "That's really all I have to report."
Wikipedia says Chris is NOT related to Ken. Is that correct? I thought he was his son.
Damon's Da Mon.
5-5 and a 3-2 clutch shot? Dude.
Well, that picture answered my question.
164 Definitely. Better to have a chance for the win in the ninth than a save in the eleventh.
BTW, if I were a KC fan I'd be screaming for Soria right about now.
Still, I'd rather be sure that we DO go into extra innings then have Mo available for a random inning that may not matter. I geuss my point is, Its better to make sure he plays, although I got at it in a round-about manner.
Tango
Foxtrot
"deJesus, Mary, and Joseph."
He'll be pitchin the tenth ;)
YEaAA

THE YANKEEEEEESSSS WIN!!!!

End to a perfect day.
Damon's Da Mon.
Only the second 6 hit game in nine innings in Yankee history.
Today is a version of that old kids' game ... Pick Up Skips. (Hah!)
Most hits, game -- 6
Myril Hoag 6/6/34 at Boston
Gerald Williams 5/1/96 at Baltimore, 15 inn.
Myril Hoag!
Just jumped in the shower and heard Damon get his 6th hit of the day. Unreal!
Good lord, Johnny Damon.
