My previews for today's ALDS Games 2 are up on SI.com. Two lefty starters give the Rays-Chisox series a different look, while Daisuke Matsuzaka's stellar record belies his unimpressive pitching.

And yet he probably 2-hits the Angels into the 8th. Mind you that's with 7 walks. ;-)

3 i'll probably do the same. i keep checking in here, see if anything's happening...

wow, pale hose getting squeezed by cb bucknor in the late innings.

i'd kinda like to see chicago beat the rays - we'd be in the playoffs if it weren't for tampa's exceptional year - but i think the devil fishes at least have a slightly better chance at beating the shit sox in the LCS...

unimpressive is too harsh- look at the .211 baa.. he would rather walk than allow a hit. he can still strike them out... his success defies common perceptions of pitching much like wang by comparison with the massive amount of hits he allows per game yet keeps them from scoring...

6 grant green is great! i prefer his earlier stuff, in the hard-bop tradition. blue note is sooo cool!

did i tell you his son - grant green, jr - lives here in Atlanta now. sometimes he plays w/ the guy who bestowed the stage name "thelarmis" upon me. GG, Jr. came to a jazz gig of mine a few months back and had nice things to say about us (and our young, hotshot electric guitarist)... : )

i have a cool black/white photo of grant green hanging up at my studio - from a blue note calendar. it just dawned on me - i don't think i own Idle Moments. damn!

later on tonight, i'll finish up a cool book on Hank Mobley. grant green is mentioned a few times throughout the read...

7 hey tokyo! not so good right now - i came down w/ bronchitis. not only did i have to get a sub for my gig last night, but i had to cancel my flight to NY today. i was supposed to visit my family, but i'm not in any shape to fly, nor can i be around my brothers' young kids or my eldery grandpa, who's my hero... : (

so, i'm home sick. listening to music, w/ the game on mute...

9 11 ouch, get some hot whiskey, honey and lemon and feel better soon..

"Idle Moments" by GG one of my top ten individual tunes ever, just sublime! you got to get it!!

thanks, man! i'm stickin' w/ H2O, OJ & chicken soup. dr. gave me good meds. i should be good to go by my jazz trio gig monday night.

yeah man, i need Idle Moments and a coupla Johnny Griffin blue note titles. i have sooo many damn cd's, it's hard to keep track of what i have and what i need. i used to have everything organized alphabetically & chronologically, but my collection has gotten pretty massive and i've run outta room. the only genre i keep track of with an online list, is my metal stuff...

i'm at least happy for baldelli and crawford, that they're healthy enough to participate - and contribute - to the rays' first postseason...

I'm not sure how you can not root for the Rays. This is really a young, exciting team.

14 yeah, serious storage issues over here with the small apartments, i had to be ruthless in getting rid of the riff-raff in the collection! but new vinyl just keeps replacing stuff...

Go Rays!

oh, and WTF is up with the Cubs???!!

16 i hear ya, but they're in our division and if they had a typical year for them, we'd probably be playing right now. if it's rays-shit sox in the LCS, i'll be a bigger Rays fan than dick vitale. bet on it, baby! ; )

Maddon might win MOY by the largest margin in history. I usually don't give a manager that much credit for a team's accomplishments, by with this young team, it is obvious that Maddon has been a big part of their success.

18 Believe me, if LA wins the WS, NY will be inundated with Torre talk. I mean, I'm a Torre fan, but I don't want to hear it. LA is an inferior team to the Yankees, and played in a dysfunctional division. Of course, living north of Boston, if the Sox win, I might not be able to turn the TV on all winter.

21.   thelarmis
20 i hear ya, OYF. but, yeah, i'd MUCH rather torre win it than the shit sox. hell, i'm fine w/ the Phillies - being a penn stater and all... : )

i really don't think I can take the Sox winning again this year...

24 Dude, I'll say it (in fact, I did on the actual Toaster game thread over on Cardboard Gods):

Manny who?

2008-10-03 18:57:52
31.   Mr OK Jazz TOKYO
28 yeah but with Matsuzaka and Okajima on the team we get endless profiles of Boston and their "dynasty"...hopefully the Rays will smack them down in the LCS

IF there are times when I do dislike the Angels AND there are never times when I do not dislike the Angels, THEN I must always dislike the Angels.

Simple logic.

33.   thelarmis
can bay now bat for the halos and hit a 3-run jack? that'd be great!
2008-10-03 19:00:45
34.   Alex Belth
The Angels are chumps. But maybe they've got the cojones to get back in this. Otherwise...they'll have bad dreams like the picture I just posted above.
2008-10-03 19:00:51
35.   thelarmis
well, i'll take it. ok, now let bay bat for the halos so he can hit a game tying 3-run dinger!
2008-10-03 19:01:56
36.   Mr OK Jazz TOKYO
it would help if the Angels didn't swing at the first pitch every at bat..really think they only won 100 games because of all the Ms and As division games. Red Sox so obviously the better team...D'oh!
2008-10-03 19:09:48
37.   thelarmis
that was a looooong out. santana doesn't seem to have bad stuff tonite. boston just hitting well. damn them straight to hell!
